With the work "The Papaya Book" from the field of competence Advertising Design, the student Kikko Neubert won the HAWK Gender Research Prize.

Kikko Neubert developed the excellent master's thesis at the Faculty of Design in Hildesheim: "Taboo (Ab)bruch - A communication strategy to improve the supply situation of abortions".

What do abortions and papayas have in common? Lack of access to knowledge about safe abortion methods means that abortion is one of the most common preventable causes of death for pregnant women. A papaya is suitable as a proven model to teach methods recommended by the WHO. The expertise disguised as a cookbook by Kikko Neubert, The Papaya Book also provides access to medically relevant knowledge in restrictive countries to make abortions safer worldwide. With this work from the field of competence Advertising Design, the student won the Prize of the Faculty of Design and now the Prize for Gender Research of the HAWK.

"The scope, information content and design convinced us," praised Laudator Prof. em. Dr. Uta Brandes (Cologne International School of Design).
